Surprise, surprise! - Ihmeiden aika ei ole ohi!

Oh my word. Strange things keep happening, and in a positive sense. I wasn't going to post anything today but I just can't keep all this inside.

During the weekend I took my bicycle out and realised that it needed some maintenance. The pressure was too low and one of the black caps covering the valve was broken, so it needed to be replaced. I went to the nearest service station, where a man was just checking the tyres of his car. He offered assistance and in fact, he did all the work for me. It just reminds me of being back home in Finland - if you should ever expect a gentlemant to help you there...well, let's just say that it might happen but just be prepared to wait. --Today I went to a hardware store looking for the caps. There weren't any there, neither in Auto5, neither in a huge Carrefour super hyper giant market. But there I struck gold: The guys were just adding stuff to the shelves, but they said that I couldn't buy just some caps. Instead they opened a box which contained bicycle tyres, unscrewed one cap and GAVE it to me. Then they asked whether I needed more than one (and I said no). However, they gave me another one! Good for me, not so good for the person who buys a whole new tyre and gets it without a cap. Hihi. And just for the record: I'm not pretty, I'm not blonde and I did not flirt to achieve those goals, it just happened. So, what better way of celebrating that than taking the bike out for a swing. 15 kilometres in a springtime forest - such a nice experience even though it rained.

Earlier today I started tracing down the bag I lost on Saturday, and BINGO, it was found intact, knitting and all. Can't believe this! I promised to drop by tomorrow, hopefully they won't do anything hasty before that.

Let's enjoy this hype and good news. There was an article in the Sunday Times where they said that knitting is becoming more and more trendy, and one London department store boasts that the sales of wool and knitting needles are up by 35%. (They just don't mention the period of time when that has happened.) Then there was another piece of news where they said that knitting needles will be allowed on planes again. What has happened? Have some planets' and constellations' positions changed for the better?

Loppuviikko ilman kudinta. No, kai se on lomaa sekin.

Hi there! My name is Rebecca and I'm from Belgium too! I accidentaly found your blog through the 'flash you stash' thing. I'm addicted to knitting these days and was wondering if you could help me with some stores, but while thinking so I saw one of the links on your page for stores in Belgium. :D Anyway, maybe we can exchange some experiences if you feel like it. Plus, I was wondering about knitting needles on airplanes, I hope it'll be allowed over here by the Summer as I want to take my knitting with me!

Greets!

KirsiR: no tuo oli kyllä vuoden understatement.

Torill: Roligt att du hittade hit!

Rebecca: Nice to hear from other bloggers in Belgium - but for some reason I couldn't visit your blog. Where do you live? Do you attend the knitting meetings in Brussels? Yep, that textile link should show shops all over this country, although I confess that I buy quite a lot of yarn when visiting Germany.

..and just one more thing: bamboo knitting needles are easier to get through the security check. On the other hand, if the officers decide to confiscate them, it's a bigger financial loss than with metal needles.

Hi there, sorry, I didn't notice till today that some of the bloggers I commented to posted replies here! Sorry for that. And about my blog, it's at www.livejournal.com and my username is purpem. I still don't know why the linking isn't working, it's not the first time. Sorry.

I didn't even know a knitting group met in Brussels! I've never been there. To be honest, I started knitting again last october, after not doing it for years (used to be addicted as a kid). Oh, and I'm sure Germany has some wonderful yarns, all the nice sock yarns are produced over there!

Thanks for the comment, if you are interested you can always email me at rrej37@hotmail.com (and I do hope emails show up over here ...).

Should start a knitting blog this weekend, will let you know!

Greets!

PS.: Maybe the link works now? I used another one.
