Please don't kill me, let me explain first

Sorry ladies, I couldn't come to the local knitting meeting today - I had to choose between it and a movie premiere. And who could resist the chance of seeing The Da Vinci code on the very same day as it was shown in Cannes?

Hihi, and even if this may not be the first blog where someone tells they've seen the film, I bet it's the first knitting blog which claims that. Or can somebody prove me wrong?

So, how was it? Well, it was ok, but when you've read the book, there aren't that many surprises lurking round the corner. Yeah, I know that the first scenes take place at night, but it was dark about halfway through the whole movie. Blair Witch project meets Raiders of the Lost Ark. The car chases were ..err.. how should I put this? Childish? Tongue in cheek? And when there was action, the cast was whisked from one place to another, where they suddenly had a heated argument, until it was time to catch another vehicle and travel in silence. And oh please, Audrey Tautou hitting a baddie? It was like 'if you don't behave, I'll tickle you with a feather, so there'.

Was that a bit harsh? Personally I preferred the book. Would I buy it on DVD later on? Doubt it. But go and see for yourself.

And had I come to the knitting meeting, I would have taken these with me. Visited Aachen last weekend, and even though my favourite yarn shop has made a drastic cut on their cheapest yarn section, these yarns just wouldn't let me in peace. Had to rescue them.

What is that do-a-diddy-diddy-dam-diddy-doo-thing?

It's a frame for cross stitching. Remember, last year I bought a long and narrow sunflower-themed cross stitch project which is embroidered on linen. The canvas would suffer from being turned, and since it's quite a big project, it would be totally destroyed in the end. I've been looking for a frame which would stand on its own feet, but haven't found one yet, so I thought I'd give this one a try. It's not perfect, far from it, but should facilitate stitching.

In fact, I shouldn't even have started that one yet but I had to try whether it worked. I'm still working on this shoe thingy...

which was supposed to match with this 'Handbag heaven' I finished before last year's summer holiday. Remains to be seen whether shoes are ready before July.

Täytynee siis lähtee Antiques Road Show'n mukaan telinejahtiin. Tjaah. Taitaa olla parasta tehdä itse, eihän tuo tarvitse enää kuin jonkinlaisen nivelen, jonka ympäri kiepsautetaan.
