There's a wild parakeet community (or several) in the nearby park, so if you hear a screech, just look up and you should be able to catch a glimpse of those birds. They are bright green, but I didn't have time to adjust my camera, just took a hasty photo.

Hiljattain blogeja kiersi kysymys "mitä näet ikkunastasi", ja hämäläisgeenejä omaavana mä vastaan siihen vasta nyt. Tai siis tänä aamuna oli jotain näytettävääkin.
Brysselin puistoissa elää villiintyneitä papukaijayhdyskuntia, ja aika usein ilmaa leikkaa terävä kirkaisu. Silloin yleensä myös näkee vihreän vilauksen - nää on oikeesti kirkkaanvihreitä, mutta mä en ehtinyt pahemmin kameran asetuksia säädellä, räppäsin vaan kuvan. Kuusen latvassa vasemmalla on jotain outoa, eikö?

And while we are on the subject of green colour and casting a look outside, here's the current state of the towel I wanted to place in the front of the door leading to my terrace. The idea was that there should always be something green to be seen any time of the year. Besides, what a pleasure to walk on flowers.
Ja kun nyt kerran vihreästä ja ulos katsomisesta oli puhetta, niin tässä on mun terassimaton nykytila. Virkkaan siihen lisää kukkia sitä mukaa kun löydän uusia kukkaohjeita ja toisaalta sit taas sopivia jätelankoja. Ideana olis se, että kun katson ulos terassille, aina näkyy jotain vihreetä oli vuodenaika mikä hyvänsä. Tai sit toinen hyvä mainoslause: "hän kulkevi kuin yli kukkien".

How on earth can the parakeets survive in Brussels? Don't the hawks or whatnot get them? Or maybe it's a real jungle out there where you're living :)

Hello and welcome - you're a new commentator, aren't you? Please stay tuned - although this started as a knitting blog, we're covering a wide variety of subjects nowadays ;-)
I guess that the parakeet population is so strong these days that hawks, whatnots and wotsits have little effect on it, and besides, they're fierce by nature. They've been breeding in the wild for decades, and originating from the Himalayas, they can withstand some frost as well. I guess it's the local species that are endagered by the parakeets, who are thriving.
But yes, you're right - it is a jungle around here. I've seen some foxes and bats, deer and rabbits quite near my home, which is, after all, only a couple of metro stations away from the city centre.

Kiitos, sitä samaa! Taitaa olla turhaa tehdä neuleblogikierrosta tänä iltana, tuskin kenelläkään on blogipäivitys päällimmäisenä mielessä. Ja vihjattuun opukseen vois yrittää tehdä lähempää tuttavuutta kesäloman aikana. Viikon päästä tähän aikaa säntäilen varmaan ympäri kämppää ja heittelen paniikissa kamaa matkalaukkuun. Jos ihminen olis viisas, se aloittas pakkaamisen jo nyt.
